Ladies there are two areas that we all dread having pimples and breakouts- the back and the butt! The appearance of our backs and butts are important at intimate times, definitely don't want wandering hands to encounter a breakout! But we often neglect these areas and end up with painful acne patches.
Unless you have a willing significant other to help you with fighting your bacne then you'll need some tools! My favorite way to clean my back is with a loofah back scrubber brush. (link below) With the long handle and great scrubber I don't have to worry about missing any spots and I can easily apply an astringent to my back as well by dousing a washcloth with SeaBreeze and wrapping it around the loofah.
Bacne and butt-ne are problems for women of all ages, but those who sit a lot or who sweat heavily are more likely to suffer from unsightly and painful breakouts. Your overall health and circulation play a large part in the condition of the skin on your back and butt. Air circulation also plays a big part. Let your back and butt breathe as much as possible. I know we can't all run around in our birthday suits every day, but when you get out of the shower take your time getting dressed- let your body air dry completely before covering it.
The best way to tackle bacne and butt-ne are the same as dealing with acne and blemishes on your face. Cleanse, exfoliate and use an astringent to help clear up existing blemishes and prevent future outbreaks. Once you find products that work on your face you can use them on other parts of your body as well.
While these are areas that we don't often discuss openly when it comes to complexion problems they are common problem areas and the only way to stop bacne and butt-ne is to treat it! Yes, you can use Stridex on your butt and back, you can also use other products made for facial blemishes there as well.
Your skin changes as you age. Besides the seasonal differences of dryness and oiliness that can be caused by cold weather or sweating in the heat your hormones can make your face and body feature many different skin conditions.
Combination Skin on the Face
You may have always had either a dry or oily complexion and years ago you probably found the perfect product for your exact skin type. As you're aging you may suddenly find that there are super dry areas of your face, or locations that are suddenly developing blackheads and greasiness. This means it's time to look at some different skin care products.
When you are dealing with different conditions on your face its important to find a gentle cleanser that will clean deep down without irritating your skin. Don't lock yourself into one product- your skin will continue to change and you'll need to change your product as you notice different conditions. Facial cleansers are important- don't skimp on your cleanser and never, ever use plain old bath soap on your face. I've found a few products that seem to work for the acne prone "sideburn" areas and my super dry- flaking nose all at once. I love the EmerginC pomegranate gel cleanser, it is natural, refreshing, gentle and meets my varying needs.
Changing skin often leaves debris and dead cells behind as well as dirt and oils that build up and leave your face looking dull and sallow. It's important to exfoliate to remove this buildup. Exfoliation is wonderful for your skin whether it is dry or oily, acne prone or just a wild jumble of conditions. My favorite exfoliation product is a simple drugstore find, St. Ives Apricot Scrub is gentle, effective and leaves even the driest patches on my face feeling smooth and supple.
Choosing a moisturizer can be difficult when you're dealing with dry patches, oil slicks and sensitive areas on your face. I've found that a natural product is often the best choice to provide moisture without increasing oiliness or irritating dry areas. Aveeno Naturals line has moisturizers that are wonderful for your face and body no matter what your skin type.
As your skin ages you will have to try new products, deal with a variety of skin conditions and adapt not only your skin care regimen but also your makeup and overall health habits to prevent skin problems and remedy existing issues.
