Hair removal can be one of the trickiest and most time consuming beauty regimens that we have to go through. There are many hair removal options available to women that promise to get rid of unsightly hair on our legs, underarms, bikini area and face. Many of these techniques work better than other and the duration of how long the results may actually last can vary. There are several things to consider when it comes to choosing the right method of hair removal that will suit your lifestyle and budget. You will want to think about how effective each method is, the level of pain involved if any, and how much each procedure costs. Here is a breakdown of some of the most popular hair removal methods so that you can decide for yourself which options is the best choice for you.
Shaving is the fastest and cheapest hair removal method. It is basically pain free unless you manage to nick yourself, which most women do at least once every time they shave. Using a sharp blade and shaving gel, cream or foam can help to cut down on the nicks and scrapes that occur. Also the quality of the razor that you use will help to eliminate cuts. Shaving is perfect for the legs and underarms but usually not recommended for the bikini area and definitely should not be used to remove unwanted hair from the face. Since shaving only removes hair from the skin’s surface, you can expect to see stubble appear once again within one to three days. If shaving is your main method of hair removal for your legs, it is a good idea to keep them hydrated by applying a good moisturizing lotion to them daily which will help to keep your legs silky smooth in between shaving.
Waxing is a process that includes applying a very sticky substance to your skin followed by a piece of cloth that is removed a few minutes later, pulling out hair in the process. Waxing is recommended for all types of body hair include that which is on the face. There are many waxing products available on the market and it can be difficult to choose which one would be the most effective however most users say that a good thick wax will work best, especially for the bikini area. There is a lot of pain involved in waxing which is why many people shy away from it but it does offer much better results over shaving. The hair will grow back thinner so that it is not as visible and it will take much longer to grow back since it has been pulled out by the roots. You can buy waxing products to use at home or choose to go to your local salon to have a professional do it for you.
Laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is a very effective process but it is not the best method for everyone. Lasers work best for people with dark hair because the lasers will target the melanin that can be found in darker hair however there are some laser systems that can now successfully remove lighter hair as well. Laser hair removal is not as painful as waxing but there is still a fair amount of pain involved in this process. The best thing about it would be that a laser hair removal session doesn’t take very long to complete and many people have had more success with laser hair removal than any other method. It can be very costly though. One session could end up costing you anywhere from £100 to £150 depending on where you live.
